like a lot of people i found the work of seldon hunt on a record cover. in my case kk null’s “gev” album. the intricate cover sucked me in and remains one of the most beautiful covers i have ever seen. seldon hunt’s parcours is diverse but with direction : from extremely technical drawings like that one mentioned above while still having a sense of feeling and depth; to intricate handdrawn pictures full of life while at the same time picturing decay and death; to photographs that feel like there is either something missing that was just there or something is lurking and looking at you. as an example of that last one i want to mention the coverphoto on earth’s “hibernaculum”. i like earth but i bought that particular album for that picture and i am still figuring out why this photograph fascinates me so much beyond it’s stunning beauty.

even his work as an author has ended up on records, check out the text on “the grimmrobe demos” by sunn o))).

his work can be very dense with information but feels clear and beckons you in to explore it’s depth. for me his work is akin to hieronymus bosch’s and lucas cranach’s.

seldon hunt has created album covers, posters and/or merchandise for isis, neurosis, kk null, earth, sunn o))), acid mothers temple, melvins amongst others.
